I'm after a little advice on courses and would welcome your input.

I currently work in a local authority control room, I want to move away from operating and get into the technical side of CCTV. I am based in Manchester but I'm quite happy to travel anywhere for training. I have already completed the Practical CCTV course with Tavcom (Bishops Waltham - Southampton ish). I want to do some additional courses before applying for CCTV engineer jobs and would like to know which courses you guys think would be most beneficial.

I've seen a couple of adverts that want applicants to have some idea of intruder and access control systems too, but the CCTV engineers we work with are pretty much exclusively CCTV. Are these adverts just after a jack of all trades or is that the norm?

I'm currently considering either a CCTV over IP and networking course, a Fibre Optics splicing course, or a foundation Intruder or Access Control Course. All of which are with Tavcom as I've used them a few times and like the set up but I'm open to trying other providers.

I will at some stage probably complete all the above and some more advanced CCTV maintenance courses, so my question is what do you folks think is the next logical step and which do you think employers will value most highly? and can anyone recommend any other training providers in this field that are worth considering?
