    What's wrong with that ?
    test and trial, then adjust.
Do that on a daily basis, make people accountable, but give them a chance to learn first.
Keep at it, reinforce the gaps.
And maybe on the day, when it finally comes.
    We'll get it right.

It's a little more in depth than that mate. Ever walked down the high street and smelled a fish and chip shop from 50 yards away, then gone inside and not been able to smell the same thing? Sensory overload. It's not the easiest thing to train for and you'll very rarely get a solid indication from a dog. So it brings into question whether the dogs are good enough and the handlers experienced enough.

Oddjob has a point. Dogs are a tool, as are we and the technical tools we use.

The risk is great and the only way to really test it is to do these dummy runs.

What perks my curiosity is why there'll be over 22 thousand security personnel inside the park but only 6000 outside.

My point is that the tools used for such an event shouldn't be trained on the job. How long have VCP's been screened by explo dogs? Now we're learning there's a fatal flaw inr the tool! To be fair that's not the handlers on the grounds fault, how many of us have access to bulk training?

It's not on the job, it's pre-job. I know that 90% of what i know, which admittedly is not a lot, i learnt when working. The dogs are probably really a very small part of the whole security plan.

We seem to see what the problem is !
The solution suggested is not acceptable to leave troops on the ground, with proven dangers, unprotected.
And bring the very 'tools' they need back home to cater to a suspected danger.
A suspected danger that we've had in mind all along I might add.
This is not the way to go.
What solutions are there to improve and train up the abilities and facilities we have here already.
Maybe they're not paying for or buying in the right grade of Dog team.
Buy cheap, buy twice comes to mind.
The bottom line is not price after all, but quality, surely.

Especially when dealing with the detection of Explosives/Bombs !

How long have the Aes dog teams been in there- since the foundations have been in place?

Has the supposedly corner cutting and dodgy training been discussed on here before in previous threads?

I am for one not 'tarnishing everyone with the same brush' who has worked or is working there at present and dont believe everything you hear through/ from handlers, as they do like to gossip and bitch, but not all can be wrong - can they?

Apart from the tickets farce - I wont be visiting London anytime during the event I can tell you!!!
