I need a Seamens book/card asap to get on a transit.
Does anyone know if they will sponsor me to get this please. I know you have to be sponsored and I know all good companies will sort this if they want you on etc but I'm hitting a brick wall.
Rather than stare at my email every day waiting for nothing i need to be pro-active and go get one so i can stop companies saying "sorry - no book no transit"
Blackpearl use to but no longer after people messed them about...........
Can you please PM with companies/ideas and im willing to buy a beer or two for this book.
I refuse to sit here spanking my monkey any longer for a book.............
still spanking the monkey? you need to get onto the company that is offering you the work (if they are UK based) ...they should be able to give you a letter to send to MCA prior to your first trip.the MCA has clamped down hard on sending out both books...seamans card and discharge book are two separate things and cost £40 each for posted applications.
If a company wants you to work for them, they will counter sigh the relevant sections of the application form, a letter is no good now you must have the form completed by yourself/company,as far as i know this is the only way to obtain what you`re after.
my step dad looked into these books and the easiest way is to join a seamans union cost you about 11 quid a month mate, hope that helps out
still spanking my monkey but ive put my monkey sheets on now, so at least im comfortable...............
your all right but i was just looking for a quick fix, someone to pm me and say x y z and you can get one. job done! it happens in every walk of life so why not with these books that are as much use as giving a dummy to a fckn baby cannibal.
i can see this is going to be hard work but appreciate the feed back guys
I had a post on linked in about this, and was told that if I was self employed, I would be managing director of my security company therfore able to sign the paperwork myself. Thats what the guy done that told me this. I haven't looked into it yet, but it sounds ok to me.
Good point but I'll need to read the application. Seems to easy that but worth looking into, application is asking for quite a lot of details.........
Yeah I have the application too, try phoning your local office or pop in if its not too far away and explain to them that you are self employed and only signing temp contracts to do security on the ships.
Good post I'll pop in next week to see how I do and re-post my findings. Cheers
I'd phone to arrange prior to poping in as the MCA office's will not see walkins without an appointment
