Twelve flaps
OK, so you know it and it’s so old, then go and read Valley of Death some scary stuff going on there
Otherwise:
As part of your ABC
TWELVE FLAPS is the acronym for “B” to check the neck and chest wall
T Trachea, central, if not tension pneumothrax, late sign needs treated
W Wounds, check for
E Emphysema, surgical, air under skin and feels crackly, pneumothorax
L Laryngeal crepitus, check for damage to the larynx
V Veins, check for extended neck veins, pneumothorax or cardiac tamponade
E Every time, recheck on every cycle
F Feel the chest wall
L Look, examine the chest wall for signs of injury.
A Auscultate, listen for air entry, should be equal L=R
P Palpate, tap for signs dullness or resonation.
S Check sides and back
OK so you know it, but somebody may not.
