Just want to know if there are any ex siggys out there and wondered what you are upto now? I'm still in but looking at coming out into the cp world, wheres the best place to start? many thanks
TA Siggy working for Orange, doing some security, DS, Event, CP work on the side. Keeps me busy and ammused, still debating another tour but work is going well at the moment so it's not a great time to put everything on hold. I think anyone will tell you, breaking into the CP world from any angle is hard as nails but if it's what you want, network network network, get the little jobs, a good course and keep plugging away.
I woudln't like to comment on what course to do, there are so many it's a painful choice!
Good luck whatever you do mate.

HI mate
Ex 216, got out beginning 2007. Worked in UK for a year. Then went to work for Aegis as watchkeeper, now the movements coordinator for the CIVPOL project in Iraq.
Im actually looking at CP courses at the moment but Im starting to think the market is that saturated with people looking for work that its not worth the time or money....
Good luck in whatever you decide to do......
Hey buddy,

Hi Mate;
I got out in 2005 and worked in Saudi and then Iraq doing comms mainly, but also a little bit of CP. I did the Phoenix CP Course prior to leaving as a back up. The market back then was still quite good, however at the moment with all the cutbacks etc, and also with the market over flooded with CP trained people, with experience and without, it could be hard to get into. You have to look at what interests you have and what your short, mid and long term plans are. You could have a look at watchkeepers positions as this may provide you with more of a chance than with the CP side of things, however saying that, there are also a lot of ex sigs applying for a role when it does arise. Some of the applicants have already worked with that particular company and thus have a foot about someone who has just started in the industry. Hopefully the market will pick up, however with Iraq slowly closing down and Afghanistan not really looking like the work is picking up, I may be wrong, but that is just my opinion, I would look at your options very closely and get some advice and go from there.
Good Luck.
