The SIA have just announced that new Door Supervisors will have to gain the qualification of 'restraint techniques' in order to gain the licence. I don't think this is terribly new but they have announced that anyone renewing their Door Supervisor licence will have at attain this qualification. Ok, I can understand this reasoning but what about persons with a CP licence? We automatically hold the Door Supervisor qual'. Presumably, we will have to gain this 'restraint technique' qualification. Can anyone shed anymore light on this please?
Its on the SIA home page, not much hunting to be done. I would still like to know how it will affect CP operators to work as door supervisors. cheers
Really I picture that to be CP, you should be trained in a little bit more than basic level PI meant for door staff.
Cheers Pyrene, I have learned more. Thanks for input.
The SIA said when the PI first came in that at some point DS would need to do it for renewal, so there's nothing new in this and if you read the statement on the SIA website you'll see they haven't decided when its coming in and that they'll give 6 months notice to allow people to get the training. It's typical of the SIA to make an anouncement like this without saying what effect it will have on CP licence holders who want to do DS work.
