This new, senior level, role leads the Africa security organization for this leading multinational. The focus is to support senior management in ensuring that security risks and opportunities are understood, systematically managed and mitigated across the region in alignment with the Global Security’s framework and goals.

Responsibilities
Design of a security strategy & systems for the region, aligned to the Global Security framework, to demonstrate a significant contribution in mitigating security risks
Identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; and ensuring that appropriate focus and resources area available to achieve safety objectives;
Capturing and sharing of security related knowledge, regionally and globally, for continuous improvement and establishment of the company as a leader in security systems and practices;
The proactive building of security related networks and contact to understand the security related risks and opportunities within each operating country as well across the region;
Engage internal & external stakeholders on security related matters, and support BU’s on security related engagement, working within corporate and regional stakeholder engagement & communication standards, guidelines and strategies;
Create a unified culture across the regional security teams, aligned to the organisational values to achieve overall company direction; a culture that is security and risk aware and focused on shared and continuous learning’s and knowledge development;
Support informed decision making in a rapidly evolving strategic context which includes the well-informed critique to generate security debate and encourage robust decision making and strategy development at the Regional and Security leadership level that will enable the security discipline to identify, develop, implement and maintain security processes to reduce risk, respond to incidents and limit exposure to liability, in order to reduce financial loss and reputational damage to the region;
Contribute to establishing and maintaining a methodology that supports strategic intelligence and analysis, business and competitive intelligence, which contributes to the sustainability and “license to operate” of current and planned operations within the region;
Contribute to the identification, analysing and interpreting of security risks within the region and contribute to the design and implementing of strategies and systems to mitigate risk and to prevent and reduce loss of the organization’s assets.

Candidate Profile
It is imperative that the incumbent speaks fluent English and French 3 year tertiary qualification – industry specific would be advantageous
Minimum 12 years, with at least 5 years of functioning at a Senior Managerial / Leadership level.
Knowledge of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and /or Human Rights is a requirement
Demonstrated experience in project management would be a strong advantage
The incumbent must have previous African experience, ideally in West and Southern Africa, and should ideally have worked in some of the more challenging African environments at the strategic levels.
Work experience in Francophone Africa would be a strong advantage.
A background in the intelligence related industries would be advantageous preferably at the diplomatic or senior managerial levels
Extractive industry security experience would be very advantageous
