    Share
What qualifications do I have to have when I renew my door badge or can I just renew it?

If it is due for renewal just now then you can just renew it.

Currently you do not have to do any extra training to re-new your badge. Any training companies suggesting otherwise are incorrect. It is possible that the SIA (if its still around) will require all DS to do the new Physical Intervention training when they renew at some point in the future but they have not made a decision on this and is unlikely to come in before next May.
Renewal cost is still 245 as far as I know (its only a month since I renewed).

You dont have to do training to renew ure DS licence. I paide 245 for my renewel and i was surprised it took the sia only abour 6 weeks which is good.

    Nobody knows.
There is a provision within the Private Security industry Act to delegate responsibilities to local authorities, chances are that it would stand good until renewal were required with the local authority, but everything related to the SIA at the moment is just the same as it was last month or the month before.... we need to keep with it until told otherwise.
As for what would happen if it WERE to go.... well, above, you have my thoughts as to what would happen with your badge, but it is simply that.... a thought

the ironic thing is that when i dished out my money and time to do the ds course i had a thought in the back of my head as to just how long this badge would be of use to me before the government decide to change it all again..but hey everyone needed a sia to get into work so thats why i done it.

As far as i am aware i checked this out when we were inspected by the Police and also the council officials, both at different time during the festive season, they both stated that the badges will still be honoured by the councils when all is handed over to them around 2012, this also means that the SIA will be supporting them (council) until its all up and running..... But.. Thers still a possibility . of private firms conducting the training and the updating on behalf of the councils ( a bit of a contradiction to me? ) So in short . no worries about the badges being valid
