12345, That's hard to answer! It depends on the person, and their ability to write an essay, although they are not too bad at 1500 words each. I would say that if you could spend 3/4 hours a week on the essay and some more time reading, then you should be ok. You have 2 assignments at a time...

What for maritime work? I disagree. These days no one is retiring from the SAS then going on to do transits for £100 a day... Then they would still need to do more training to get the ticks in the boxes they require to satisfy clients I'm currently in a good job in Africa that I got through...

So then how do the employers in Poole get to hear about these guys? I think your wrong that they will find the good guys without any application process, no one is going to chase anyone to do work for them, no with the amount of guys looking for work. Even getting a mate within another company...

There's a website/company called firmseo where you can do it online for £85. I haven't don't it myself, but may look to do it in the future.

Interesting post. To add to it, there's also a lot of guys doing maritime security that are cp licensed, and I also know some lads in Iraq, who haven't bothered renewing their licence as the companies that they are now with do not require it.

Paddy, I understand what you're saying, however not all courses are the same. Look at CP courses as prime examples, a cheap course under someone with little/no real knowledge or a course with a well known company with good instructors behind them.
