  • Alright mate, any word on what your plans are for your release? There are plenty of excellent training providers in the UK or if you had the dosh to attend training in RSA with RONIN. Wish I had your quals with 33 as it opens a lot of employment and a fantastic amount of travel consulting and teaching.
Oh yeah, is Matty Needham still around? Was in Iraq with him on my last tour back in 2007
The CP industry's a good way to use your skills and experience due to it's many similarities. Jobs that compete with Joe Civvie will wear you out & these same people don't have a clue about what your background is because they never did it themselves. CP industry will be easier to adapt to because of common ground if you take my meaning.
The army gives you plenty of opportunities to gain quals to make you more marketable but remember, once you're 'out' you have to front the cash for quals yourself. You already know that it costs nothing to do it while you're in & you draw a paycheck while you learn. Something you will have to accept & save for. Just maximise as much of your remaining time before you leave. You already intend to get into CP, just give yourself that bit of an edge before you jump in with both feet. Prime example of why ex-SF can find excellent employment straight out of HM Forces. They applied themselves before they left, stay positive and keep your eyes on the prize. J
Just a quick one mate, I see that you are soon to be ex-RE. Left the corps myself last year. Any idea what your plans are for the rest of the year and what your plans are for resettlement? CP work is high competition and a lot of bluffers. I don't want to sound negative as I'm sure that you have good reason to sign off but the RE has lots of opportunities that can make things easier for you to move to CP work later on and 33 isn't anything to sniff at either. Just a bit of advice that I wish I had gotten before I left. No offence intended. Hope that helps, J
