The great thing about Muay Thai is that it doesn't matter if you are big or small - one solid elbow to the jaw, and the attacker will soon know about it! Train hard, fight easy!
Bit of a crap response really, but my mate has just finished his training phase in the marines. Said he did do some hand to hand combat training and some jiu jitsu and boxing. He also said you are able to join in the sessions, if you have the time. Maybe someone else can shed more light on this...
Muay Thai (or kick boxing) and Jiu Jitsu are both very effective as a combination together creating all round defence, standing & on the ground. If you need to use force, knowing these techniques would be very helpful on your part.
