Just keep networking. The more you network, the more people you'll meet. Law of averages means you should get some work at some point, as long as you come across as professional. It's not easy being freelance, especially for ex-forces who tend to specialise in CP and/or surveillance. I've been lucky with contacts I've made, and also with my police and insurance investigation background I can diversify a bit more.
