Hi mate, Nice to hear that a PJ and 18D is coming to the UK. Are you interested in teaching? I run a paramedic training company here in Malta. We hire paramedic instructors for four weeks at a time. www.merit-training.com. My background is 18E from 1SFG. I got my paramedic after I got...

    FPOS and ALS course providers?

Not all MIRAs are the same. Control Risks, Shell and BP will only hire applicants with MIRA qualifications from Exmed. Look around. There are MIRAs that are really cheap and taught with the FPOS over 7 days. The training you get with 7 days is shoddy compared to the full FPOS and MIRA which...

    FPOS and ALS course providers?

There is a huge jump from the FPOS level to advanced life support. ALS level of training is Tier Two or paramedic. You need a profound understanding of anatomy and pathophysiology of the human system and a good understanding of the cardiovascular system and the heart's electrical system. You...

exmed offshore medic course sept 14

Not at Exmed. They are very strict with prerequisites for their OMC. Not a registered ALS paramedic or CMT1 or nurse or doctor? You are not getting on the course regardless of vacancies.

    Pre hospital trauma course

The PHTLS from Exmed is a fantastic course. Paramedics in the states must have either the PHTLS or ITLS in order be qualified to work.

Which paramedic course gives the highest level of training and qualifications.

Those bells and whistles are an important addition to get jobs in the offshore, maritime, and security industries. Thankfully all registered paramedics can get those additional courses in order to get work. They don't limit those courses to just HCPC Paramedics. Your statement about military...

Which paramedic course gives the highest level of training and qualifications.

The bottom line is to get training that will get you jobs. Clearly there is some paramedic training programmes what will prepare the graduate better than others. A three year BSc in Paramedic Science that culminates with HCPC registration is a profound training programme.

    NREMT Advanced V IHCD Technician

I understand your point, Scott. The AREMT-P is not backed by a government agency. That being said, there are companies who accept that qualification for jobs requiring an ALS Paramedic. Also, the AREMT-P meets the requirements to get the HSE Offshore Medics Course. You are correct that the...

    NREMT Advanced V IHCD Technician

Agreed. The Offshore Cert is not a good indicator of clinical skills. A CMT who has been counting blankets for 12 years can get out and do the course. They get work as an Offshore Medic same as someone who is an ENP getting the OMC. But there has to be some line drawn in the sand that states...

    NREMT Advanced V IHCD Technician

You are correct. The new levels of training are the NRP, AEMT and EMT. Gone will be the NREMT-B, NREMT-I and NREMT-P. They have already transitioned into the EMT and AEMT. The NRP comes on line in the next couple of years. Some TPs are already teaching the NRP. There are additional skills...

    NREMT Advanced V IHCD Technician

Yes, you could say that they are both in the same stadium but play in different levels. The AEMT is quite a bit higher than the Tech due to their ACLS protocols, advanced drug therapy and airway skills. If I were to ask either one to work on one of my family I would always choose the AEMT...

    NREMT Advanced V IHCD Technician

You don't need a US social security number in order to get the NREMT Paramedic. There are many non US graduates from the NREMT programme. PERCOM in Texas has the highest pass rate for any online paramedic programme. They have graduated many non US students. I don't think that you can compare...

    HSE Offshore medic pre requisites??!!!

Hiya Lads, As an affiliate instructor with Exmed, Jamie Todd and I have had quite a few conversations about this topic. The HSE regulations states that candidates must be a nurse or military medic/lma. Companies can allow registered paramedics to attend the course. Some companies have allowed...

Rectal Fluid Administration - anyone have experience?

That is fascinating. No, I have not come across that study before. Thanks for that. Impressive to be able to give 3L of fluid over 48 hours. Saved a life. This should be standard curriculum for all EMT and Paramedic students including the HCPC Paramedics. This is what separates the men from...

Rectal Fluid Administration - anyone have experience?

Good point Adam. This has been debated ad nauseum. You are correct that flow is better laying on the left but that also means that flow is easier to come out as it is to go in. So, do you lay them on their left for better flow or on their right to restrict the flow. One thought is that it...
