Are you sure about Bournemouth not allowing direct entrants onto level 2 of their paramedic course? When I was having my interview, we had a British guy who was ex-reg CMT and now lives in South Africa working as an ILS paramedic for the last 5 years. The course tutor doing the interviews was...
3lead, When are you due for your TA CMT 1 course? Once you have completed your CMT1 course, have a chat with the head of accreditation Keogh barracks. Starting next year, you can do Emergency Care Assistances self study course which is Level 4 and 5 on the NQF that can be used for some APL...
Hi guys,
Looking into doing the IHCD Tech course with Ronin however i'm interested in finding out if anyone has done an IHCD Tech course and managed to find a company to complete the 750hrs?

From what I saw and heard, it's pretty much busy all year round. It's an awesome experience to work in Guatemala and I'm glad I had to chance to experience working with the "Los Bomberos Voluntarios". I found it was a huge jump outside my comfort zone but I enjoyed the experience. If you’re...
C81, did the attachment in April. It was an awesome experience. If your thinking of doing the attachment, the best advice I can give you is to do a basic Spanish speaking course and bring a good sense of humour.
Eddy,
How about joining a TA unit as a CMT. Because you are a registered healthcare professional, you can fly through all the CMT training time barrier for each class. That way you will get paid for your training. Just a thought.

This course has just been approved and will be running for the next few years so I don't know where you got your argument from.
Can any current UK paramedics validate this?
Hi Medics,
I have recently come across Prometheus Medical now running an IHCD paramedic course. I thought all Paramedic courses were going to be university based?

Hi CPW Medics,
As some of you people know I'm currently a TA CMT 1. I decided to take the courage in doing an eight day ambulance attachment out in Guatemala city with the Bomberos Voluntarios as part of an attachment organised by Chris from Yantarni.
On the 30th March, I flew out on a 16 hour...
I've just come back from doing just an ambulance attachment out in Guatemala. I can honestly recommend doing the HEMT course with Yantarni. The instructor is top notch and the placement is an eye opening experience.
I'm going to try and smash a few months back out in Guatemala.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread people. As im currently looking at becoming a HPC registered paramedic in the near future via the university route, what criteria do you need to meet in order to stay registered with the HPC?
Like Mountainman said try to get on your BATLS course however good luck trying. I'm deploying next year on herrick 15 and my med sgt at my TA is having drama's trying to get me on a BATLS course. catch 22 hey
From what I've heard they throw in a lot of contents in a short amount of time. If I was you, have a look at doing an FPOS-Int course to get a basic heads up and then do the PPA EMT-Basic course in Jan 2011. Just an idea.
Have a look at PPA International. They are running a 11 day Emergency Medical Technician Basic course in Jan 2011 which will allow you to register with the AREMT. Also they have included a 3 day clinical attachment and will also include some CP medical training. Not bad for 1200 Euros.
They work long hours, they save lifes and they don't complain all in the name of good will. Doesn't matter what side of world but that's some of the traits of excellent emergency medical personal. I take my hat of to you guys. Cheers for the article TactMed
Awesome, cheers for the response. I'm currently a TA CMT 1. I submitted my CPD to a training provider and found out a few days ago that I have the green light to do the course.
Like I said, I'm looking to do the offshore course after xmas. I also found out that my TA battalion are sending...
