Door staff wearing high vis jackets

I know that when there is a scale up, it is so much easier to see collegues when we are hi vis'd up. Yeah it's a pain in the arse but when I go into a Public Order situation, it is so much easier to find my colleagues and make sure I get to them to help them out. I was once at a job where one...

Questions about SFOs and joining the police

As already mentioned you need to get some 'life experience'; I would highly recommend that you go away and do something, that might be university and you could be a special whilst you are a student. Or you could go and work somewhere for a couple of years, what you do won't be that important as...

    driving standards

Our ARVs are dual roled also. Therefore all AFOs are Advanced drivers as they are primarily Road Policing Officers first and AFOs second. Ours are double crewed, and cannot be crewed with anymore staff for reasons that I am not going to discuss on here!! We also have an on call firearms team...

    First Aid Qualification

That is the case, but it would rely on the SIA having those details and without the applicant proving the fact they have completed a first aid course, the SIA wouldn't have these details. In effect there is no way the SIA can prove you have completed the training without a copy of your...

    Med skills enquiry

WEMSI (Wilderness Emergency Medical Institue) run the W-EMT and the W-FR courses in the UK and Ireland. I have been looking at their courses, people that I know that have done them in the past have rated the course - but from the website and the lack of information I am not sure how upto date...

    Expedition Medicine UK Course

I have come accross this course, based in the Lake District. It looks OK and I know some of the lecturers and they are very well qualified and experienced. The majority of the participants seem to be doctors, nurses and Paramedics so should be a reasonably advanced course. I was wondering...

    Traction splints

When I was still active with the Mountain Rescue team we used to use the HARE which was spot on, I have never liked the SAGAR becuase of that strange 'T' piece at the top. The Donway and the FernoTrac are fine, but as Kev says they are not practical unless you are providing soley a medical...

    Equipment - footwear

I don't like magnums at all, just don't find them comfortable. Have a look at the Original SWAT boots at Gladstone Boots Home I have the SWAT air side zips and the SEK 9000s. I will never wear a pair of magnums again, these are so very much better.

Can I sue over deleted cctv?

They have no legal responsibility to show you any CCTV. The Police would view it and make any decisions from there, you wouldn't be viewing any CCTV unless the Police showed it to you as part of their investigation. As for trying to sue the bar for your losses - the bar has no responsibilty...

What's Do You Carry Your Med Kit In?

So to try and get some threads in this new forum I thought that I would ask what you carry your med kit in. It could be your own personal kit, or your vehicle/team kit. Bang some photos of it on here, along with some pros and cons, and we can get some recommendations up and running for folks...

Give me a clue, what sub forums do you want in the new medic forum?

Is that going to be as easy to use as if the kit sections fell within the specific areas?! I think that if the kit section was in this forum more people would read/use it. Just my opinion :)

PSD TRAUMA COURSE MAY 12th & 13th pics

I was an excellent course that I thoroughly enjoyed. Kev was spot on in his teaching and delivery, and even manged to make sure the 'non-cp' folk like me knew what was going on. Now we need a course the next step up, how do you fancy a 5day CP/PSD Technician sort of course. But more on the...

    police application

Our force states that it will be a month from recieving your application form to informing you that it has passed the papersift. The entire process will vary massively, but 12months is not uncommon. Our new recruits are being told it could be upto 18months from start to finish.

    can bouncers confiscate your id?

It isn't theft, there needs to be an element of dishonesty for the offence of Theft to be complete. A doorman will say that they believed that the id was fake and that they were justified in removing it from you. If it is fake then they will keep it and pass it to the Police.

    CPR & Defibrillator certifications

I doubt it will be as there is a vast difference in the levels of training and skills between CFR groups. The closest thing to a national standard is the ICHD First Person on Scene course, and I don't know whether they issue cards or full certificates.
