I am just starting out in my new CP career after my military service. All uk work is London based. The problem is that I live in Wales and am getting turned down for work as I don't live with a 5/10mile radius of London. Is this the norm? Why do I need to stay so close?? Any assistance on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You want to be IN London, or at least greater London for work. There's cheap places all over the show, look on spareroom.co.uk and rooms2let and even gumtree, you can normally find a pretty crap box room with a shower etc for £500pm which may or may not be within your expenses it depends!
I saw a studio flat posted on gumtree for 500pm (hense the figure) it was all self-contained apart from the toilet so nobody will be nicking your knee-pads and wind up radio.
Cheaper than hotels and then you can live on super noodles
