Hello there,
My names Oggy im currently in the Marines but due to leave next year. I`ve done ten years, seven of which as a medic. Im a fully IHCD trained paramedic and got various tours and courses behind me. Ive put my chit in with the intention to move into Remote Hostile Medical Work weather its maritime or land.

Wondered if any of you have any advice on other courses that i can get done through pusser before i leave which will give me a head start? Also any links or websites that may help.

Thanks for any advice

Oggy

Mate have a look at the forums as im sure there are some good companies within giving there details and courses details for you to choose from, if not mate a company i have worked with in the past called Ex-Med is an excellent company, i have always been around excellent medics they have supplied to what ever job.

They everything mate and im sure Jed and Di jones will be able to help and give advice on the medical front

Good luck

Oggy,

I would recommend doing an SIA CP accredited course, along with an SSO (ships security officer) & an Offshore (medical) qualification. I'm pretty certain you'll get some good employment opportunities with those extra quals under your belt!

Ditto

hey Oggy

We have more than likely met but I'm just about to leave RN as a medic v soon too. I still want to stick with the medical side so I am doing the RONIN CP course. Do that then complete the other Remote Medicine courses. Use your resettlement and ELC's to pay towards the first course

Good luck

I agree, but also consider HECPO course.

hi Oggy

I left CSG last Nov and have been working remote since then...it all depends what work your after...there are plenty of different companies out there. get as much out of them before your resettlement starts. get as up to date on your ALS / PHEC / PHTLS courses as you can.
The offshore medics course opens up the likes of frontier / international / oilfield medics.
As boring as it is cracking HSE course is easy...having NEBOSH under your belt if you can get for free before you leave. it can tie in well with the offshore medics course.

Doing the SIA opens up HE work back in the sand box...normally better pay. got to pick a good company like exmed / ronin as they are great for networking.

good luck and stay safe

Oggy mate get your self on the RONIN South Africa course. Pusser will pay for everything and with over sea's Ie's you finish, up money! Its a good course and is regarded as one as well. Start the ball rolling now and do the course before you TX. If pos do it before April as you could then youse your next lot of enhanced learning credits on something else in your terminal leave. All the best buddy.
