Hi everyone

I'm currently a serving British soldier thinking of making a career change.

A little about me:
I joined in Jan 2009 into an infantry unit
Been on 2 operational tours of Afghanistan
Currently a Lcpl
Have been in Recce for about 4 years

I'm at that stage in my career where I need to decide whether or not to start fresh.
I'm currently looking at completing the SIA door license, CPO, HECPO, PMC, MIRA and MSO courses.
Will having these qualifications help me find a worth while job or will I just be another candidate for a contract?
Would love any suggestions on further courses to help me "stand out" and any suggestions on the best providers
For these courses.

Thank you all in advance

Should have no problems mate. I'm ex infantry and working in maritime. Just done my cp course as well. Hard part can be getting a gig in hostile but in house be fine.

If you do the MSO and the MIRA course you will easily get into Maritime but you will also need the STCW95 course. Give Ambrey Risk a call as they are recruiting British MSOs at present.

Don't work for anbrey. Nothing but bad things I hear from them. Pay you in dollars and less than any other maritime company mate! Mast, solace pvi are quite good. Best one for entering into is with Securewest. Good stepping stone

just stay in, already over the halfway point and in service you know what a sure thing is, private there is no sure thing.

The grass is not greener.

Solace and PVI will normally only take ex RM. What you hear and what you know about different comoanies is totally different. Ambrey are are great company as is Securewest as I have worked for both companies. The best advive given is as Ivan has stated, stay in the Army maintain a stable wage and look to see what the future holds near the end of your Army career. Good luck anyhow.

Completely disagree. Stable wage yes but the army has gone down hill dramatically. That's why I left among most I went training with. If you want a career in the army then fair enough. But if you want to take a risk and really do something with your life and not be doing the same shit day in day out then why not take the risk and make something of your self. Life's too short to stay a sheep haha

Thank you to everyone for their advice, I definitely need a change I used to bleed DPM but now with Afghan over I'm finding it hard to stay motivated!
I know it's a risk but I'm at that stage in my life where if I don't take the risks soon I never will.
Thank you all once again

Ambrey Risk are hiring Polish and Romanian guys and also I think Bulgarian. SVS Risk are hiring Polish guys too.
