Has anyone been on this thing? I've had the pleasure of the Sealion, and last week crossdecked weapons onto the Aladin, and there is a strong possability that I may have the pleasure of the Aladin in a week or two. I wasn't impressed with what i saw. I have heard rumour that it has no running water, the food is crap, it has no lifeboats and there is a portaloo on the top deck!
 
I have spent quite a bit of time on the Aladin and am not sure where these rumours start but the only bad thing about the Aladin is that as with all of these money spinners, beds seem to be a premium as do the life boats.

But the food is excellent, never had a problem with hot or cold running water or showers, toilets are good and the internet is workable (but not for streaming or skype etc), if they have put a portaloo on the top deck then it is down to them wanting to save people trapsing from the top of the boat to the bottom for the toilets.

I got stuck there for 15 days over Xmas and did another 5 days there at the end of January too and there are worse vessels to work on, the Marshall 5 for one :D
 
Dolphin Maritime run Aladin which replaced the Boreas up at 17N, i was under the impression that the Aladin was going to be replaced at 17N though with a larger 100 bed vessel and that Aladin was going up to Oman, obviously that didnt happen :D

Sealion according to a mate of mine who was on that and that had been on the M5 too is apparently just as bad if not worse than the M5, now that would be going some :D
 
Aladin is fine, just have enough stuff to keep yourself busy. I loved my time there, met great guys, kept working out and had great dinners.
 
just to add, just been on aladin, and it was absolutely mint.

good food, internet, decent showers, cold bottled drinks, no complaints at all other than the bunks downstairs are pretty fooking hot. but nevermind.

anyone thinks its shit you need your head looking at, or some time on the marshal 5. that is some real soldiering!
 
Would it not be a dream scenario being able to fly to Cairo Egypt, get picked up and driven to Suez, stayover at a hotel. Get the weapons and gear already there in an armoury. Papers and manifests already taken care of and get shipped onboard the vessel that one is assiged on as MSO? and the same scenario on the way back?

It used to happen like that and i was led to believe that it has now allowed again, it all stopped whilst the civil unrest was widespread in Egypt i think.
