Any Recent SIA Applications?

Good evening everyone, Im looking for someone who has recently had their SIA licence approved.

Im struggling to get to grips with the new system. The online tracking service says criminality checks in progress.

I have spoken with the DBS who have confirmed they have completed their checks and issued the certificate. Does anyone know if the SIA get a copy of the certificate posted to them or do I need to provide them with it? The bloke at DBS said they won't get it but there is no mention of needing to send a copy to the SIA anywhere.

The lack of contact the SIA are giving (no reply to any emails in last 8 weeks) is very frustrating and would like to get this resolved ASAP

Many thanks in advance of your replies

You don't need to do anything.

Once you have completed the online process,
received your reference number with instructions to take your documents to the post office,
Visited the post office to present your documents and paid for the licence,
It becomes a waiting game.

I have employees going through the system all the time, some go through quickly, some take ages, there doesn't appear to be any reason for it.

You should have received an automated reply to your email managing your expectation by telling you how many weeks you would have to wait for a reply.

They also have so many IT issues that the on line tracker is not reliable and you could receive your licence while it is still showing at one of the earlier stages.

You will receive a copy of your standard disclosure, which is yours to keep, occasionally an employer may ask to see it, but most will ask you to complete the form and do their own checks.

I've just been through it too, the let down was a cock up between IQ and SIA somehow not copying the correct DoB down, once that was squared, it was plain sailing, DBS check came straight to me, post office did their bit, tracker was on the ball, licence arrived. Now to get some experience. Currently doing a bit of chauffering after doing the Bespoke course with Mark Kendrick. Only 6 months til out on civvy st after 24yrs. Roll on January.

Sorry to divert the thread an'all that, but how does one re-instate a lapsed CP licence. I allowed mine to run out in error. Now about 6 months out. I've e:mailed the high and mighty SIA several times, but no response or advice received in return.

Ref: DBS. It's your property irrespective of who pays for it, so it will come straight to you. Not sure if the other party get the results, but let the employer have a copy just in case.
Furthermore, when you apply, tick the update service box. It will cost you £13pa, but it will mean that your DBS becomes transferable. That saves any potential employer the time, nause and expense of having to apply for you. Well worth the money.

Badge finally arrived, took exactly 25 working days, I called them up on the 25th day and they explained because they try and complete 80% of licence applications within 25 days they would get someone to look at it. Within 3 mins of the phone call ending I received a text explaining the licence was granted.

You need to submit a brand new application. Renewals can only be done 4 months before and up to the date of expiry.
