BMW Security vehicles/training

I had a look at the link as it was something I might have been interested in, I'm not sure personally I could justify that cost for it if im honest, I think there are similar courses where you will get a lot more hrs driving for similar money, just my opinion of course, all the best

If your after a certificate in driving seek out your local IAM or ROSPA group

For trying to get a job when starting out in the industry though, would it be better to try and get an advanced license or a course that is much more focused towards security and evasive/defensive driving??

Matt I agree, paying for the name a bit but looks like a good set up.

A mate of mine does all the instruction for BMW over here and the standards are VERY high, so probably worth it alright

Just to play devil's advocate, the video shows guys making a mess of a perfectly good BMW driving it down some armco and performing a PIT maneuver - how much of the course cost is paying for expert tuition and how much is paying to repair expensive vehicles, when you could easily go to another provider and use an old Vectra to learn the same skills?

MrBlonde, I agree but surely being trained on a vehicle that potential clients are likely to use would be beneficial?
Are there any current standards of what a company would ideally like a candidate to have in terms of qual's?

Yes and No

Yes it's great to learn how a hard skin 7 series handles, compared to a soft skin version when performing at speed, but I can't see any value removing the paint from a £200k armoured BMW over a £3k used Vauxhall.

Only difference I can see between the Beemer and the Vectra is that one is front and the other is rear driven. Both will handle a lot differently. Apart from that, same skills to be learnt.

Anyone have any experience of the BMW security driver training or know if it is any good?

If I were to go on the course would security companies recognize the qualification and certificate??

Not with BMW, Volkswagen Corporation runs some very nice programs in Italy, Germany and Switzerland. Using all there top end models & makers from Lamborghini, Bentley, Audi and Porsche. There courses run anywhere from three weeks to six months. They even have bike courses for moderate trail and track. With some of there courses you have to have there three week course out of the way first or an approved equivalent.

I think our corporate office pays 22K for the six month course per employee. I have only gotten to observe the practical side, I do not fit in anything they use. Last year I thought I would get to have my chance when they pulled out the Q8's but those are just as small as the Chevy Suburban inside, with the head space. But the class room part is pretty good.

The bike course I would not waste my time on, those are for city folks and there off road is only four stroke. How stupid is that. But it is really basic.

Take it your rather large then haha! Suppose that's not bad for a 6 month course, bit too much to pay privately though.

4 stroke is ok on the right bike and a long ride, 2 stroke is much more fun. Haven't ridden a motorcross bike for ages! Saying that, last 4 stroke I rode was a Husaberg (however you spell it) 650 and that was very fun!
