Hi everybody I'm thinking of applying for a couple of positions as part time/tempory gp dog handler, I notice a lot of companies want you to have checks to BS:7858 standard which I've read is various checks financial 5 year work history etc, I'm currently employed and have been with the firm for 9 years, i also have firearms certificate and shotgun certificate so I'm squeaky clean in the crb regard etc, my question is will each of these companies contact my employer to confirm my employment history etc or is there some sort of register that once my status is confirmed there is no need to contact them again?, I just don't like the thought that every position I apply for they contact my employer once I'm sure they would have no problem with maybe twice but constant requests I'm sure in the end HR would get fed up with with it which I can understand I suppose, thanks for your help everybody.....

You are vetted as an individual by each company, part of that procedure is to obtain a written reference from your employers current and past, some companies ask for your permission to contact your current employer whilst others tell you that they will.

I would not worry yourself about your current employers HR, if it is only part time / temp work to get experience or improve your earning potential then speak to your employers HR and tell them what you intend to do, I am sure you will find that they will appreciate the heads up.
