I was told by same ex dog handler that if you have a dog that refuses to eat an old way to tempt them is to actually give them fresh horse or cow shit! I kid you not.... and do know it has worked on some friends dogs!
Cheers Annie have to try that one on the kids when they wont finish thier dinner.lol.
I've been takin liberties again ...
"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says,
`My God, you're totally barking ! I NEVER would've thought of that!'"
Potassium Permanganate for bleeders. Stops bleeding in seconds.
Distilled Witchhazel as a mild astringent for skin complaints and as an eyewash.
Hydrogen Peroxide for cleaning up infected wounds.
Anyone have any good cures for an ear infection? Springers got a bit of one at the minute, really hot and red inside and horrible smelly stuff coming out of it. Been cleaning it everyday and its less whiffy but still looks a little red and feels a tad hot. She's due to be spayed on Monday so really wanted to sort it before then without a vet visit if possible
db1 any chance this might be an allergy rather than kennel cough. My friends border collie had a similar thing around the same time period. Also brought on when excited or running around, more of a 'huff' than a cough. Lasted for a few weeks and now she is right as rain. Whilst it was present she took dog to the vet and was told to use an anti-histimine, which seemed to help. Dog is 4yrs old and she has never had the symptoms until start of this year and then again in August. We still have no idea what she was allergic to but will watch for it again next year.
JamesMc have you also tried adding a couple of drops of cider vinegar in the dinner and either devil's claw by itself or in a root mix? Horrel and dodson do them for horses I think they also do a dog strength.
