The Close Protection Industry has changed considerably over recent years. It was necessary for the Government to introduce the following;

On the 20th March 2006 it became illegal to work in the Close Protection field without a Close Protection license issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). This currently applies to England & Wales only

The Close Protection Industry is now regulated and has a more professional images with a good selection of Close Protection Companies carrying out work in the UK and beyond.
 
RMP CP, SAS or Police Protection.

Even then, nothing is 'guarranteed'. Much of this industry insofar as employment is concerned is pure luck; being in the right place at the right time.

But you can make this luck work for you if you work for it!

There is enough info re this throughout this forum.

No commercial course will guarrantee proper 'work'. Maybe a little 'job' where you are paid for a few days 'work' but this is purely so that this company can claim to 'guarrantee employment' to those students that pass.

andy, CRG claim to guarantee employment on completion of their HECPO course, I believe if you pass it you go on a waiting list, ranked on your performance. I haven't done the course myself so cannot confirm that. Maybe send them an email and check it out. I would, however, take on board what Rich said. It has a lot to do with "who you know".
