Difficulty in getting work

Hi im currently in the Royal Marines and i am thinking of getting into CP when i leave in Sept. My question is this. Is it worth while trying to get into CP at the moment? i have spoken to my resettlement officer and she seems to think that ill never find work and that i could be making a mistake by leaving the Marines. I obviously dont want to leave and spend the money on a course if im not going to find work anytime soon. any answers or advice would be appreciated thanks.
 
hiya mate i am in the armed forces looking to get into this sector of work as well the best thing you can do is read as many posts as possible and then ask questions as the posts will help answer any questions you many have good luck

I read these forums every day and the same questions arise "Work" or lack of "work",your resettlement officer is talking a lot of sense.
I wish you good luck as one day you might get the lucky break if you pursue a career in CP.

As Knasher says work is not as easy to get unless you know some blokes that are omn a contract and will help you. The whole CP industry works on networking and takes a while to get known. All my jobs are found through contacts and not from advertised work that is the main job finding route. Also if you have only been in the RM a few years, why not push a few more as you can do some networking while in, here for example! Get as many courses as you can in the services, its FREE! like medics etc By the time you have done quite a few years you will know a lot more people on the outside who are employed and will assist you and employers prefure some one who has done longer in the services.
