For a nationwide petition I believe the norm is 15,000 signatories before the question is brought before the House of Commons. However, there has to be lateral understanding to the specialist sector and the numbers involved and I'm hoping the percentage of signatories after 12 months will suffice in bringing attention to the matter.
15K, that is a very easy figure to hit. In some countries one needs 250K.
This is not just limited to holders only then. Something such as this could be a public campaign set up right on the street by Close Protection World or whom ever, what ever group involved in the industry in the UK. Just takes a few tables, laptops and informed professionals who want to see their home industry improve. Signatures would roll in. A million signatures should be a very easy number to hit, it is simple industry professionals want change, public affected wants change, customers want change... It may not be the change everyone is looking for but certainly all could agree that any change for the better right now would do good. From a scholarly point of view anyone with an education in Poli Sci, Law or CJ could see the potential for this as the UK was once the backbone in theoretical practice of these areas and still is on many basics or advanced models.
Just my thoughts on this Rich but I think to make a branded impact you would need some campaign backing in the form of money, personnel (volunteer), time and assets to really get the well rounded attention this deserves. Now I may not care personally for you but it is your show and I support change for the good.
I am sure there is some law out there with a monetary donation cap towards such a campaign, any ideas as to what that would be. I am ready right now to make a donation. In fact I think anyone who has ever complained about the industry no matter what country you live in should be ready to contribute to the support of this right now. It can not go more tits up than it already is, also if you look back between 1860-1960's the backbone was set by UK agencies & universities in Poli Sci, Law and CJ. Still today a person who studies these will learn about this from the UK. This may take as long as a decade, perhaps longer but it is a start and the faster we start, the sooner it is developed and a working model is put into action.
On another note, I am sure this will come up in this topic some how. I would find it very poor for anyone from CPW to feel they should have some kind of Profiteering roll in this. It has nothing to do with the business of CPW and they could support it or not, but standing between it would just be bad manners.
Just thoughts, Rich your keep my donation as anonymous as possible and I would love to help. Meaning I do not need some banner on my profile or public recognition in any way, I am just happy someone competent is stepping up.
