Early release

I'm a current bootneck with my chit in to leave. I have a mate who owns his own Personal Training company and wants to take me on as soon as possible. We have also set up a bootcamp class which is doing well. I am looking to try get early release as if I do my full years notice he is going to get someone else on board instead of me. Does anyone know with the current numbers of people leaving the corps, what are the chances of me gaining early release?

Thanks for any advice, chris

Things may well have changed but for the Army it came down to pretty much 3 things...

1) Your CO has to agree early release
2) Your 'desk' up in Glasgow has to agree
3) You must be able to provide a letter from your potential employer, if asked for.

.....At least this is what I was told upon my early release and that is the process it followed, however it is difficult to do before 3 months prior to your ROD. Save your annual leave up and add that on.
Be sure not to jump too quick though. get everything in order first.

Thanks very much for the reply.

Both messages given to me are what i expected and i would think that it should be hopefully the same for myself as i am getting a letter for the bloke i am going to work with. I have afew other personaly reason which are stated in a covering letter so fingers crossed everything goes through fine.

Once again thanks for the input

Are the chances of early release greater if you are accepted into the police or fire service? or are these jobs treated the same as any other?

If you have a decent job to go to then the CO (and Glasgow) are more likely to grant early release. If the CO gives the nod Glasgow mostly go with that. I got out within 6 weeks though I'd already completed my 22 years and was on Veng.

Still haven't got a job though! :-)
