Essential PI equipment for working from home

billal74,

remember it is you who is new to the game and in need of help!

What is the matter with some people on this forum... I have kindly asked for help right at the beginning but not many people
are willing to help. The question was very simple..."what would I need to work from home including editing software"

If anybody doesn't wish to answer then don't do it but being sarcastic and showing off is completely useless in any forum.

...yes you have more knowledge and maybe attended more training and have more experience then others but you should be here to either learn more or benefit others.

You have been given advice mate, as premier said it may have been a baptism by fire but it is there. One question I would ask is what address will you put on your Yellow pages ad?

Read my post again about having to coax someone to take me on a job, I almost had to beg him! Get the kettle boiled and have the phone book in your hand and contact local companies.

billal74,

I was helping... And trying to be pleasant about how I steered you to find your own conclusion to your questions!

So here is my thoughts, so far you have done a course that in your opinion hasn't given you the knowledge base to answer your own questions.

Answer: do a different course

I'm in no way saying Ronin courses are poor but one of their students certainly hasn't learned much!

I know the CTR course I did taught me these very answers you seek, and I know on a personal level that Peter at ISS would have taught you it and indeed helped you after the fact, as he has help me!!!

Maybe this is like natural selection.

Regards

premier

Thank you for your advice colonel finding someone to train me is a good idea. As for me putting my address in yellow pages I got told not to set up limited company straight away as it cost lots of money. At the beginning I am only planning to make some business cards and do little work for people I know. This way I can build up my experience by putting in practice what I learn. I have quite good income from security work that I do at the moment and so for me its not about money at all...I just want to learn and prepare for future career.

Have you tried searching through previous threads on here to find your answer?

yes rhea I always do that first but thank you anyway. I have found some threads about how to transfer date and time to dvd but still looking for some software for blurring the faces. There is this software I discovered but it cost £17 a month....you just choose a place you want to blur and it tracks it itself. you can see how it works by clicking on the link below:

So which time and date package did you decide on?

As for blurring faces I am still awaiting your reply as to why you think it necessary under the DPA or in fact any laws.

I see what you did there :) you've gotta stop touting the Yorkshire tea

Personally I find English tea of any sort desperately disappointing, it's a bit weak and insipid, get online or go to an Irish store and get some Lyons, you can trot mice on it after about two minutes and it adds a whole new dimension to dunked chocolate hobnobs.

In fact, if anyone wants some just PM me an address and I'll send you a few bags to try, at my expense.

Shhh! Don't be telling them Englishers about our tea. Next you'll be telling them about our Tayto crisps ;) They'll be over in droves lol.

Thank you very much Peter this is exactly what I was looking for. I have seen the Surveillance Tradecraft book on your website but where can I get the covert imagery photography and video from? I have looked at amazon and the book is there but is not available at the moment.

I decided to go with the Dazzle DVD Recorder HD (PC) from amazon for £58.99

As I said most of the professional surveillance videos I have seen had always blurred faces except the subject obviously specially if there were any kids on the footage and so I though it is something regulated by the law. Please do correct me if I am wrong and if so please explain why some people do blur the footage. cheers

Heathens are all around. I did get a taste for strong black tea in Africa, alas the milk wasn't available sadly.

The specifics I will leave with the more experienced on here but I have submitted a lot of hours of footage and have never had to blur out anything. I can understand the sensibilities near schools or anywhere else where minors that are not specifically involved in the investigation are concerned but the paramount intent is to supply evidential material that has not been edited at all as it will potentially undermine the whole chain and your case. Footage in the public domain will have to blur individuals not involved in the investigation/underage or still waiting to be charged etc.
