Essential PI equipment for working from home

I hear where this guy is coming from. When I first started back in 1998 I too started off bumbling along waking up one day and thinking hey I'm going to be a Pi ! Had me a car a computer and a point n shoot compact camera and thought I was the bees knees and fell into every trap going. One man surveillance jobs, getting compromised etc and making a total hash of things. Which is where I see this chap going. It wasn't until I networked and met some other more professional investigators that took me under their wing and trained me that I really managed to succeed. And now in happy to say I'm running a successful business. I too had the questions you have here that no one has answered. I do have the answers and can help you but please heed their advice and get some proper training. At least you have taken some training before you started which is what I should have done. Taking a diploma at a time when no one knows what the Sia will require (well I do) was a waste of money though. Unless it's one that will be associated with them. But you are on the right track you just need some guidance. Give me a call and I will try and help.

Thank you for your advice even tho you are not quit right with everything you wrote as most of the PIs does one man surveillance all the time which can be easily done with tracker. I had delivered my Diploma course yesterday and I straight away found most of the questions not answered in this forum so I definitely wont regret getting it. I have also completed EDI Level 3 in Professional Investigations so hopefully SIA accepts one of them. Also just to point out that I did not just wake up one day deciding I am going to become PI... after taking my formal surveillance training last year I have been doing lots of research before realizing that I could actually do the work with proper training and thats exactly what I am doing now.

billal74,

What most imused me is in your other thread, where you have a link to O & O investigation there opening statement reads:

Too many licensed investigators inquire on how to put a date/time stamp on their final videos. I would like to comment that this is unacceptable. If you are a licensed private investigator and are conducting surveillance, you should know this! If you do not know how to put the date/time stamp on your video DO NOT ACCEPT SURVEILLANCE WORK until you learn how to put it on your video. The date/time stamp is crucial evidence and video without the stamp is unacceptable! When an investigative company or a client hires you to conduct surveillance work for them, it is a given that you will provide the date/time stamp on the video. If you do not provide the date/time stamp on the video, you should not complain when the company does not compensate you for your work!

One of the very things you enquire! LOL
Please can you tell us all where we are going wrong.
And dont put too much trust in technical aids, they are to aid you not replace the need for you.

C. Some pretty A4 picture frames to put certificates up on the 'I love me' wall to stare at.

ISS I thought the Russell hobs silver kettle wasn't needed until someone became established, I was under the impression everyone had to start somewhere so it had to be a white Tesco value one?

Okay.... shall we all take a break, put the silvery kettle on, get the hobnobs out and give this guy a break...

I don't mind mate and I want everyone to know that just because I ask many questions or have opinion on something doesn't mean
I think I am correct...I know I might be wrong and that's way I m asking in first place....indeed I am expecting my "Surveillance tradecraft" written by you Peter to be delivered at any time so that I can start learning from the professional. I do listen to you guys!!!! Thanks all of you for help dont matter in what form it came.

You had your chance with me. I lead the horse to water but it refused to drink. I feel for any of your future clients. Sad thing is I don't believe licensing will weed people like this out of the profession.

So are you saying no PI does one man surveillance? Anyway why are you judging me so quick when you dont know anything about me? I said before I am just learning and I am not planing to approach any clients at the moment anyway..not before I complete few more course and finish my Diploma but signing up for forums like this and asking questions shouldn't harm anyone. I have received a phone call in past asking me if i am interested in one day mobile surveillance job it was some PI agency. The guy asked if I have tracker as it is one man job and he told me this is how they do it....instead of tailing the subject out of risk of losing him you deploy tracker and stay even 20sec behind him. Obviously two or more operatives are always better but sometimes you have no choice but to get the job done on your own.

Quit while you're ahead, the guys you're saying are wrong don't need agencies. Friendly advice, you're not making any friends. No one said asking questions harmed anyone but you're telling people who have been in the game years how it should be done in your opinion, it's your attitude to others needs fixing. Read more and post less. Remember I asked was your foot sore because you shot yourself in it with ISS, you've just repeated that mistake with M.R. Not bad for a coupla days work.

Colonel out.

I thought two pairs of similar initials on contemporaneous logs had gone out of fashion...I hope there aren't ghosting you.

Far be it from me to tell you or the agency how to suck eggs but...

A tracker tracks the object you attach it to be it a car or a teddy bear.
What it does do is follow a passenger from vehicle to public transport or second vehicle or if they debus and walk up a one way street against traffic (My favourite)
So using an aid is a handy practice but it will NEVER replace a person who can do their job
Especially when the subject is surveillance aware!

Thanks for that premier you are definitely right I guess using tracker in one man surveillance would only be good
In mobile-housing-mobile situation or if the person has no awareness at all as you said...some people are so dum they can't see two
cars behind them when they drive or they always on Facebook while walking down the road.
