PS. There is no legislation that states that you cannot film or take photographs of minors in a public place...
Thanks for that Peter.

I hear where this guy is coming from. When I first started back in 1998 I too started off bumbling along waking up one day and thinking hey I'm going to be a Pi ! Had me a car a computer and a point n shoot compact camera and thought I was the bees knees and fell into every trap going. One man surveillance jobs, getting compromised etc and making a total hash of things. Which is where I see this chap going. It wasn't until I networked and met some other more professional investigators that took me under their wing and trained me that I really managed to succeed. And now in happy to say I'm running a successful business. I too had the questions you have here that no one has answered. I do have the answers and can help you but please heed their advice and get some proper training. At least you have taken some training before you started which is what I should have done. Taking a diploma at a time when no one knows what the Sia will require (well I do) was a waste of money though. Unless it's one that will be associated with them. But you are on the right track you just need some guidance. Give me a call and I will try and help.
Thank you for your advice even tho you are not quit right with everything you wrote as most of the PIs does one man surveillance all the time which can be easily done with tracker.

I had delivered my Diploma course yesterday and I straight away found most of the questions not answered in this forum so I definitely wont regret getting it. I have also completed EDI Level 3 in Professional Investigations so hopefully SIA accepts one of them. Also just to point out that I did not just wake up one day deciding I am going to become PI... after taking my formal surveillance training last year I have been doing lots of research before realizing that I could actually do the work with proper training and thats exactly what I am doing now.

You had your chance with me. I lead the horse to water but it refused to drink. I feel for any of your future clients. Sad thing is I don't believe licensing will weed people like this out of the profession.
So are you saying no PI does one man surveillance? Anyway why are you judging me so quick when you dont know anything about me? I said before I am just learning and I am not planing to approach any clients at the moment anyway..not before I complete few more course and finish my Diploma but signing up for forums like this and asking questions shouldn't harm anyone. I have received a phone call in past asking me if i am interested in one day mobile surveillance job it was some PI agency. The guy asked if I have tracker as it is one man job and he told me this is how they do it....instead of tailing the subject out of risk of losing him you deploy tracker and stay even 20sec behind him. Obviously two or more operatives are always better but sometimes you have no choice but to get the job done on your own.

Far be it from me to tell you or the agency how to suck eggs but...
A tracker tracks the object you attach it to be it a car or a teddy bear.
What it does do is follow a passenger from vehicle to public transport or second vehicle or if they debus and walk up a one way street against traffic (My favourite)
So using an aid is a handy practice but it will NEVER replace a person who can do their job
Especially when the subject is surveillance aware!
