Ex 1 and 27 Sqn, any advice on UK CP/RST

Just putting my feelers out really, I've booked CP course with excellentia, I don't really know how much UK work is available and chances of getting a foot in door? Cheers
 
I would say find out what work is available first, BEFORE booking any course. Otherwise you might be blowing your cash for nothing.
 
Hi Matt, there is work out there but you will have to cast your net a bit further than 1 and 27 Guys for advice and use every resource that you can to find work. Some is low level and low wages and some is very good but you have to take the rough with the smooth. This website is full of info, just fill out your profile and use the search bar at the top and introduce yourself. I find that you get out of the industry what you put in (sometimes), lots of hard work will pay off eventually but I would think twice if you are leaving the Mob to become a CPO because you have security and this industry has none plus there are a lot more operators than jobs. I can not comment on courses that I have not done so you will have to make informed decisions on that front. The bottom line is relentless networking and having a good CV done properly as it would be madness to do a top CP Course then have a crappy CV. I left 27 (Eng) in 2008 and have done OK but it seems harder now than it was four years ago and I don't think that will change in the near future.

Thanks for that I appreciate what your saying, it's a catch 22, If your not qualified you can't apply if you hear of something, but thanks for reply

I stumbled across the RAF REGT part the forum last night, so I thought I'd get going here first as a lot of new guys seem to be getti g hammered elsewhere on here ! , I'm working as civvy now, I've got no illusions of mega money etc and I'm guessing it may be that I pick up bits and bobs and gradually ( hopefully) and try and go full time.

Dig deep Matt... plenty of Ex-Rocks out there amongst the projects... make sure that once you are trained you get your CV 'Placed' under the right nose... CD
