Federal Courthouse Attack in WV

good job in quick reporting.
you are 100% right - MSM is not even close to being on top of this.

I hope the police and security staff in WV are OK.
these incidents are dangerous for them.

wondering what happened to this event. have not seen it in the national news in the USA. maybe it was reported locally, or the exact events were not as high-profile as the initial report from the discussion group.

Fox News picked up from the Firearms Portal last night and since then all the majors have reported it. It was a retired LEO. Still waiting for full details and the reason why

"It was a retired LEO"

Wow.
Just no other words to say.

I went back and looked for SCT's leads and found this article ... for everyone here.

UPDATE: I took a look at various reports. This was indeed a former policeman. It appears that he acted alone and went to the parking lot in front of the courthouse. He then took out a rifle and started shooting the building. It actually looks like he targeted the building itself, rather than any people. If he wanted to - he could easily have killed bystanders nearby. And it is very clear that he knew that the response to his actions would be for police/security to kill him ... which they did. So apparently he decided to "make a statement" by putting bullets into the building itself, and die in the process.

FURTHER UPDATE: Perpetrator may have had terminal illness.

I honestly believe he WAS making a statement. He's probably one of the 75% of the US population who is completely fed up with Nobama trying to destroy this country. The POTUS is a POS. The worst ever in our history. So many people in this country wanted to put a person of color in the white house and this guy had the opportunity to do great things and become another MLK but instead he has become just like other dictators in the world history. I believe the suspect in this case shot the federal building in a ceromonious statement....sick and tired of the federal government and its over reach. It's a surprise he was a former cop....it's no surprise he didn't shoot someone. I believe he was a man 100% fed up with the BS in our goverment and took a stand. Sooner or later we'll know all the details I'm sure.

Terminal Illness..

Suicide by cop springs in mind.

Maybe they should have then, and not said "F*ck It, He's Close Enough".

I think this is where the problem started though, one can not base politics and the future of a nation on color. Any person who stepped up after Bush would have certainly had a hard time but to stick someone in with an agenda based on race sure was not going to make it any better. Germany screwed around with similar idealism back in the day and it did not work out to well for them either.

The thing about "death by cop" ... is that this guy was a cop.
So why didn't he just shoot himself? I don't think it's the best option by any means, but it's a lot better than firing 20 shots at a courthouse.

People who commit these outrageous acts - don't seem to think about the impact on friends and family.
The guy had served honorably, and was respected.
Why on Earth would he blot out all those good memories of his life?

I doubt seriously his family will remember during family function for firing a few rounds from a fine weapon. Something tells me they will remember him for other things.

Shooting him self would have not made the same statement as what he did, so that is out of the question.
