Guards Brigade

Guys, just wanted to offer my condolensces for the loss of one of your own yesterday. The Welsh Guards Officer hasn't yet been named.
Charlie.

Glad to see that there are a few more Guardsman out there. I have'nt been on the site for a while, I have been a wee bit busy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don`t they all come under the Household Cavalry mounted or Armoured regiment now.

Household Cavalry Regiment, recce the Operational side of the coin.
Household cavalry Mounted Regiment, the Ceremonial side of the coin.

Due to options for change back in the 90's, there was a requirement for members of both to cross train, prior to that, if you were armoured you stayed armoured, if you were mounted, you stayed mounted. There are a few exceptions to this rule, usually permanent cadre staff at Knightsbridge, riding instructors, farriers and saddlers, don't tend to be moved.
As I understand it, Gutter Guards:D get posted between Operational and Ceremonial duties en masse? Cavalry pax usually get individual postings upon 2-3 years doing one or the other.
Anyway, hope that's cleared things up, no offence intended, you all have my respect.
