On Saturday January 21st, 2012 I attended a small open-source intelligencebriefing at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Emergency Operations Bureau.Everything I'm about to tell you is unclassified and available to the publicif you know where to find it or which private intel conferences to attend.And believe me, there are many people in the government who would rather younot hear this.The briefing was given by Juval Aviv a former Israeli Intelligence Chief ofthe Mossad who are some of the best in the world - because they have to be.He's not a household name but his business is. He lead the Mossad team thathunted down and killed the terrorists who committed the Munich murders atthe 1972 Olympics. Spielberg made a movie about them called "Munich".Juval is now a private intelligence contractor who consults at the highestlevels of government. Bottom line is, he knows his stuff and even warnedthe White House about the 9-11 attacks (all except the exact time &location) a month prior to it happening... which was ignored. I'm writing this email to you all today for one simple reason, Juvalpredicts a major attack in North America in the next 2 to 10 months beforethe 2012 November elections. We're overdue and the enemy has had over adecade to learn our security measures which pretty much stink.What we do know about the pending attack is that it will probably be:- in 10 to 12 cities simultaneously- during rush hour for all the obvious reasons- targets will probably be mass transportation- cities included are (but not limited to): Seattle (Sorry Mike), Tampa(Special Operations Command), Miami, NYC, LA, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, SanFrancisco and Las Vegas - yes, Las Vegas.- Small Town USA will also be hit because very few suspect rural areas andthe enemy wants you to feel that nowhere is safe.There is a strong belief in the intelligence community that the terroristsare already here in the US and are merely waiting. For what? An attack onIran perhaps. I'm not going to bore you with bunch of "be prepared" rhetoric but I do wantto share with you two things Juval recommended that makes a lot of sense:1. Make two (2) clean color photocopies of your IDs, Driver's License, BirthCertificates, Passports and other important documents and seal them in awater tight zip-loc. Stash one set away from your home in a safe place (atwork, relative's house etc.) and the other set in an emergency kit if youhave one. Use a color laser printer as opposed to an inkjet so the inkwon't run due to moisture. In the wake of Katrina, many people who appliedfor federal aid and other assistance didn't have proper ID anddocumentation. Think about it... are all your important documents in oneplace? Or would it take you a while to grab them in an emergency? 2. When 9-11 hit NYC, there were hundreds of children stranded at theirschools due to parents who were either killed in the attacks or were impededby the aftermath snarl. Additionally, teachers had to go home and take careof their own families and an orphan crisis ensued. So with that in mind...- Make a plan for someone to grab your kids from school/daycare in case youcan't. Get them onto your child's emergency contact list at the school.- Have a family rally point in case your neighborhood is hit and your houseis inaccessible. This can also serve as a message drop point in case youcan't wait around. It's very noir and spy-gameish but it works.- Know all the different routes in and out of your neighborhood, work andother important places because your fancy smartphone with Google mapstraffic updates will be useless once data channels jam-up or worse.Israelis are used to living under a constant threat and are very a veryvigilant society.
