Is the SIA fit for purpose?

I asked this question after one SIA approved security company by the name of the Cotswold Security, turned out to be scamming local security companies from Birmingham and were one of their victims.

Somehow they managed to get SIA accredited and by so they manage to get sub contracts from Wilson James and then use security companies who are not SIA approved and not pay them at the end.

Few weeks they claimed they are going into liquidation as they were creating another company Cotswold Security Group.

My point and question is if security companies are still doing this, what's the actual purpose of SIA , their accreditation and ranking?

I have to ask if a person driving a BMW, goes to the pub drinks 10 pints and leaves in the car and then crashes into a bus stop would you assign blame to BMW, who built the car, Fosters, who brewed the larger, the bus company which constructed the bus stop, DVLA who licensed the driver or the person who made those choices.

The SIA are not to blame for the action of a security company director, they can and will no doubt prosecute those responsible,
But can you imagine what would happen if we went back to no governing body in charge of the industry?

The SIA certainly have their issues, and I am not their biggest fan but as long as an individual can break rules, some will!
