hi, i'm looking for a cp course, i am ex forces and now in a reserve unit, i'm looking for a course that'll get me sia qualified to work in the uk but will also be good for workin in sandy places too!! i've heard of the ronin course but are there any cheaper options??

You get what you pay for. I'm working with a guy at the minute who's just done the Ronin UK course. I've done the Nemesis one and the instructors are the best in the business, thats what you're paying for. As for the sandbox, I've been working here for 3 yrs, gimme a shout if you need a few leads.

Just one for people wanting to work in Iraq or Afghanistan, work is never guarenteed even with a 12 month contract. Furthermore if you are not up to the task you will be binned very quickly. I remember i could not go back one month and my replacement lasted 3 days!!
I have seen a large number of operators only do 1 or 2 months becaused they have been binned or the contract has been halved with no notice. It just needs to be said i think.

Thanks co19

After i put the thread in felt a right pratt.lol
Iam in Spain at the moment and the signal on my laptop is as bout as good as a chocolat fire guard.
Thanks for taking the time to reply Chris

Symbiont security services is running a 15 day S.I.A compliant C.P course starting jan 27th at a location in Surrey.
The course covers all the requirements to gain your S.I.A licence and some added extras;
- 2 days on skid pans drilling evasive driving techniques.
- 24 hours CQB training (I.D.F based- includes many high stress reflex drills- smoke machines and strobes)
- optional extra of 7 days more in Warsaw - firearms training for C.P.O's.
Course cost £2500 including food and accomadation.
call.07779153102 or email brandon.vexd@gmail.com.

sorry also forgot to mention, symbiont also run bi-weekly refreshers for candidates who have sucessfully completed the 15 day course and passed the requirements.

Before anyone jumps down my throat on this one - We are NOT training people to go to Iraq or Afganistan.
Those of you that are in the Know will be aware there is no course in the u.k that will prepare you for that.

remember my friend cheaper courses arent always the best and are not looked upon in the same regard as others such as ronin. there is ronin south africa, and phoenix. but there are others that my friends have been on such as task. no course will get you sia qualified you have to apply for it. but all the above are accredited with the sia and completing either of them will meet the necessary criteria.

also the sandbox is good if your there for the money. if you want to be in close protection then i think your better off staying away from the sandbox. all you are there is an armoured taxi service for civil engineers, bbc embassy staff etc etc. its not true cp work. truly its not. if youve been in the military in these environments then youll know what i mean its exactly the same you just get more equipment. hopefully youll head my warnings about going down the sandbox route. people dont do it for the job they do it for the money. thats why i only spent six months there solely to have it on my cv and to have that experience as i wondered what all the fuss was about and its not all that. ££££££££££££ good, work experience in the cp environment????????????????????????

I knew the pba guys but as far as I know things have changed big time there. I believe, and I may be wrong, that the original staff have all changed and the boss - John - is out of it. "Dave" - he of the nasty kubo - is definately not with the organisation.
I agree with the other guys. Have a good look round, check all the info you can, check any references and go for it. I should say that the ronin course in SA seems to get excellent reports. Doesn't mean any work will be guaranteed however.
Stick in. You want anything more on pba, pm me and we'll confer.
