motorway ambush on security vans

Dear All,

re the above news, it is for sure there was somebody giving an idea to the robbers - you do not need to be a genius to understand this.
What is surprising me in this story is the fact that the security company did not ask for a more serious escort (i.e. police or more escort cars) for this huge amount of money/gold bars.

Thanks God, nobody was hurt...

I'm Italian and ex armed security...Sadly those robberies does happen sometime and they can't do much to fight back despite transport of values in Italy is armed with shotgun and pistols or get police escort I guess. The insurance will probably pay for the loss and the damages !
 
why is it always robbers from Belgium & Italy who do these kinds of jobs?
do their girlfriends want a lot of expensive shoes???

In some Police Forces / Security services, corruption is just part of everyday business, and it's part of the overheads.

Police / Security in some areas, are notoriously low paid, and this is a regular way to either top up salary or earn a wage.

i guess working an extra job as a doors guard didn't quite cut it :-)

I've had teams out in S.America, Spain, Italy, and Eastern Europe fitting out sv vehicles for anti corruption units. Interesting experience.

The Paddies have figured this out too, hence the high demand for Louis Vuitton and Chanel, not to mention the record sales of Crystal champagne
