Move from Maritime to CP

Hello all,

I looking for some advise as i am wanting to make a move into CP.

A little about myself: Im 33 and have been working maritime as a TL since Feb 2010; before that i was in the RN from June 2003 to Oct 2009.

What i want to know is what are the chances of me getting work not being from an infantry background so to speak.
Also any advise on the courses as the market seems to be flooded with providers. I have had a look and found two courses i have considered but again any insight would be great. The courses are the Ronin SA CP package and the UK based company called Horizon offering a CP FPOS-i MIRA and FREC L3 bundle.

Is there any other training anyone would advise looking into?

Thanks in advance.

Mate as mentioned below from Protectasia, if you got regular work then stay put, like the Maritime side of the business CP or PSD is not much better. If your looking at the UK side of Close Protection then to be fair you got alot to do and be up against guys with UK experience and who have been around awhile, that and there networking.

PSD (Hostile Environment) side of life, well its not that great, pay has dropped drastically all over the place and it will NOT rise. Far to many are taking the S**T money which the companies are thriving on and just keep pushing the wages down, don't get me wrong its not rocket science IE the work, if its oil and gas then expect long ass hours sat on your arse at de-gassing stations / refineries waiting on the workers finishing to then take them back to base. There are other contracts FCO etc but its pretty much deadmans shoes and again not great pay either.

If I was you I'd invest the money on other courses that will give you a career in the UK, as your only 33 its not to late to re-educate bud, thats my advice anyway. Others may have different views, but from one who has worked in this industry in HE for 9 years its not what it used to be. And standards have most definitely dropped.

Good luck tho which ever avenue you take buddy
