Hi there the names Rob,

im due to leave the forces soon and am interested in completing a few courses and one of them being CCTV.

So my questions this, what the most recommended course to do?
dos it help to have this on a CV even when your main job is surveillance (foot & mobile)?

cheers for any help given.

Hi Rob,

It is the individuals preference as to what route they want to go down. The CP course is one of the main choices, however I will tell you the way it is, if you don`t know anyone who is currently on the circuit you will find it very difficult to obtain this line of work unless of course you get a bit of luck but the choice is down to you whether you do the CP course. Surveillance is covered on the course but there is also courses designed for Surveillance alone.

As for the CCTV course, this is just mainly covering legislation and in my opinion it is worth holding this qualification. As I have already mentioned it is all about what route you want to go down but I would look at obtaining Health and Safety, FPOS I (included in all CP courses anyway) and Fire safety qualifications as these are highly desirable.

Hope this helps.

robby, milk the army for what ever you can get!!!
CP course, CCTV, Surveillance, Driving quals, what ever you can get on GET IT!!
i made the mistake on getting my HGV licence for resettlement and now I'm trying my hardest to get into CP that i should have done in the first place.
more quals more likely to get a job.
