Working as a Remote Practitioner, the successful applicant will be responsible for the coordination and response of all patient emergencies, non-urgent transfers and the coordination of patient treatments in Port Moresby for the off-shore drilling program. The successful applicant will also be responsible for reporting to the Company’s Medical and Occupational Health (MOH) Coordinator on a professional basis and the Company’s Drilling Superintendent on a day-to-day business basis to ensure key milestones and results are realised.

Duties will include:

Functioning as a clinical expert in medical emergency response activities.
Undertaking the lead role in the transfer and/or evacuation of patients.
Working collaboratively with Company’s Medical and Health Coordinator and Drilling Superintendent in planning, organizing and coordinating emergency response preparedness and response.
Working collaboratively with the Off-shore platform Drilling Medic, MOH Coordinator, Senior Medical Officer and Port Moresby Clinic staff in planning, organizing and coordinating emergency response.
Assisting the Helicopter Coordinator based at Port Moresby Jackson’s airport ensuring appropriate coordination of general activities.
Responding to emergencies 24 hours.
Coordinating all MER equipment including maintenance and replacement.
Working with the Port Moresby Company clinic staff three mornings each week, (Mon, Wed, Fri) to ensure effective collaboration of knowledge, skills and coordination.
Assisting in building a positive professional culture that facilitates effective patient outcomes in a constantly changing environment.
Coordinating the collaboration of non-health department personnel in their knowledge and skills (where necessary) to support the Health Service in the MER process.
Focusing on the Health Department’s culture and values, whilst continuously searching for innovative ways to improve the service.
Contributing to the creation of a positive image and the overall credibility of the Health Service, notably through the application of the Company’s Code of Conduct, ethics, values and position with regard to internal and external stakeholders.
Enhancing the capacity of, and strengthening relationships with operational partners to promote high quality and sustainable programing.
Participating in the Health Service Governance process including but not limited to documentation development and review and scheduled meetings.
Participating in appropriate research/quality improvement programs.
Leading the promotion of an enthusiastic approach by health staff to actively participate in challenges and/or problems in clinical practice.


It is essential that the applicants possess at least ten (10) years post certification experience as an Intensive Care Paramedic or Flight Nurse with extensive Helicopter flight rescue/medivac experience.

A six (6) month contract working an attractive fly in fly out cycle of twenty-eight (28) days on, twenty-eight (28) days off will apply with all flights, accommodation and messing provided.
