Pretty strong words from the Saudi's.
I cannot honestly ever recall them making such a blunt statement.

Saudi ready to act alone on Iran, Syria: ambassador

It's been amazing to see the ME remain (relatively) stable, considering the nucelar development in Iran, the enormous mess in Syria, and the activities of Russia, Hezbollah, Israel and the USA (to name but a few). The whole place is a tinderbox. Who knows, maybe the Saudi's will be the ones to light the fuse??

CD - not sure that the Saudi's and the USA are in-step with their policies here.
The Saudi's are clearly very frusrtated. When they make a public comment like this, it's because they tried diplomacy and it failed (incl. with their allies). I have a lot of trouble picturing the Saudi's taking unilateral action vs. Iran. But whether they are willing to team up with other players, and what they can do - that is the interesting question. It is possible for the Saudi's to go nuclear as a defense strategy - that is a viable option for them. But their press release seems to point in a different direction.

How much gear to the Saudis buy off the UK? Could be great news for BAE, etc if the Saudis and UAE need to spend more on defence.
