Planning to install a CCTV camera

Hi all, I have been reading upon installing CCTV cameras for the past few days. I consider installing one at home (just want to keep an eye on the visitors). Also I could know if my kids made it home safely from school. I have already shortlisted a CCTV camera system but still confused on which system to buy.

Can anybody recommend a camera which would fit the bill? Or which ones to avoid?
 
Haha, Been in the exact same place! Our neighborhood in Toronto had some serious security issues for a while. Had security cameras set up along the streets but apparently that wasn't enough as the problems still persisted and we thought, you know what, let's just set some cams up wherever possible!

Not being too literate about all this myself, I contacted a couple of surveillance and security monitoring service providers around town. Initial doubt was regarding wired and wireless systems. When I mentioned this to one of the services that I was in touch with, they sent me a link that explained a difference between the two.

I'd recommend that you get a wired system, if possible. The wireless one may give you a couple of physical advantages, but on calling the efficiency and quality of streaming into question, WIRED any day.
