I know one or two who operate with RED FOUR. Seems they are doing fair business out there.
 
Now 2 Private Security Companies are controling the Anti Piracy operations in the Indian Ocean .... And the ATALANTA can not protect the Vessels in that area ...
 
Trublue for your information add 3 more to your list of definately operating...Shield consulting - redfour and Geo are operating as well and probably more so than Hart.
 
It is a fact that many many companies claim to be in Marsec but are actually 'fishing' for work here and there with zero real action. Marsec work is complex, weapons logistics etc. Fidelis is correct about the Tyco debacle. I know about it because we were called in and solved the problem successfully.
Hidro knows the situation with the security companies, he has a good reputation with operatives under him who I speak to directly, including those from our company.
The sad bit is that these cowboy companies with no contract in sight are wasting the time of so many good operatives, making them waste their hard earned cash following up on ghost Marsec companies, and much time on emails and applications.
From my base in Mombasa, I always hear about some upstart quack company promising shippers weapons and all sorts of miracles. A month later, the promise remains, just a promise, and the shipper disillusioned.
I hope this forum finds a way to expose these quacks and let the legitimate guys build a good name for the shipping industry. That way, there will be plenty work going around, this is a developing industry.
 
To give some of you gents an idea of the problem in the Indian ocean. Imagine trying to patrol an area the size of America with 30 cars that have a max speed of 30kt. Thats what the navy is up against.

Hi Hidro I have come across GEO in my job search trying to get in the maritime sec. I have been in constant contact with the key staff and they are pretty solid operators.
And yes i have not yet done maritime security but i was in the military and am trying to get into it. I am also trying to gather as much information as i can so if you have anything useful please feel free to let me know.

That is an absolutely stupid source of information Hidro. Wherever you dug it up you should have checked it´s reliability before rebroadcasting it here. Some of the subsequent comments from people who "really" know the commercial reality are a disgrace.

To start escondidinho .... I think your post is not even worth a person to read.
I have been in the last two years doing MARSEC in several places and met many players and we talked a lot about various aspects of MARSEC, operators have found companies that really make MARSEC and also have noticed that there are many companies that say they are doing Anti Piracy and no man has on the water ....
When I post a comment, I know why and then because I have learned through reliable source ...... And look not tell you anything because your too arrogant to answer this more. You must think you know everything.
 
REDfour MSS Ltd are operating on long term contracts in the GoA, Off east Africa and some in West Africa. We are constantly recruiting but will only use people who fit the following criteria:
1. British
2. Have served at least 6 years in a Frontline Unit
3. over the age of 30
4. at least 1 year of commercial experience.

All Team Leaders are either ex SAS/SB
Minimum criteria. That way we dont put bums on seats so to speak.
Hart are doing nothing
DC consider us to be a real competitor (we recruited 12 ex DCites last month)
MAST are the largest

No one else is doing anything of significance.

Redfour you have other's companys PDA , Treskel and other ...

But who have the big piece of the pie is MAST and those guys are Ops very good operators ( rabbit ) from Etiopia ... CODE

And you have a Kenyan Security with PARAMILITAR POLICE operators doing transits

from Kenya do Djibuty and the company is in this forum ...

Redfour do not get concerned because is a large pie and all the good companys gets a piece of the pie ....

About the Kenyan guys , I ad 2 Kenyan Operators in my Team Paul and Moses and those guys have done very well the job ..... And if I have the chance I do work with then again ....

Personally i think there are companies that we do know are operating within the area, however there are also companies that we do not know anything about operating in the area as well.
