Hi All,

I can remotely view my CCTV from a PC but would like to know if it is possible to view this from an iPhone 4 - if yes, what application do I need.

My CCTV is a Samsung SRD 1650DC DVR.

Thanks

I posted a good company for this stuff the other day on 'announcements', worth looking at them if you ever fancy loosing the DVR and all the other baggage.
Just cameras and iPhone ;)

"IPEYE" dot co dot uk

seen lots of companies starting up offering this type of service. ipeye is selling a service you get free with axis anyway.

we had a customer on last year who used a service like this it was fine for a few months but when they had a problem. and they needed footage the company wanted £35 a mb. pay for your own footage WHY.

another is giving your recordings is never good to a 3rd party

some of these companies quote >>>> why have an ugly recorder in your house ????? if thats the best install team you can find I.E setup on your living room table then yes i can understand. but a good dvr will do all of this

  • Unlimited Schedule/Alarm Recordings
  • Email and SMS notification
  • Remote Access via the Internet
  • Dedicated App for the iPhone
  • Access from your mobile phone
  • Calendar View - check daily recordings
  • 1,000 Active alarm recordings per month
and they are that small now you can hide them anywhere in your house and not have an extra cost for not having one

I can't get into a technical debate as I am not sufficiently qualified, I can only say that thus far "IPEYE" offer a SECURE service with a flat rate to log on and view anytime.
I can only presume you mean if you want a copy of the footage direct from them rather than extracting it from the device you're using as intended?

It's was a worthwhile post anyway for anybody to view and make up they're own mind.I know there are hundreds of professionals on here with a vast amount of knowledge in this area...far more than me.

sorry explod82. i was not intending to turn it into a debate. i was just saying why pay. on the web link the company only use axis cameras. so at £200 a pop each so say 3 or 4 on a building is £800 and then you have to pay to view your own cameras and get text alerts.

if you buy the cameras direct from axis they give you the software for free anyway.

Also, what happens if your broadband connection goes down...???

(or have I got the wrong end of the stick?!)

It is posible to view cctv from iphone 4 by which we uses an Internet enabled stand alone DVR, the iDVR. And the decault port for DVR is 100.

yes its possible , can you list your dvr (make) there are some generic apps for both iphone and android. but its best to find a good h264 steam app.

any smart phone can access almost all net workable DVR's it is no problem at all! Check what software your DVR has, and which iPhone or Androids Apps work best with the phone. Usually the free apps have enough features that you need, and some that are $.99 do just as good job!

the same thing if it was analog ..... no remote viewing. but you can always go back and collect the footage once broadband is back.

The way these things are described, it never sounds like there's any local recording at all - it sounds as if it's all remote storage over the internet.

Hi. the only difference with analog and IP is the connection analog is BNC IP is RJ45. recorders are the same PC based or standalone.

remote storage can apply also to both which is the only time you need the internet.
