Hello Guys! I am new on this forum and I would like to ask if you can use your expertise and experience to help me. I work now for a little NGO in Africa, and I am responsible also for security of staff. Next mission I would like to go to a more volatile context like Iraq or Afghanistan and, as I will be again responsible for staff security, I would like to be more prepared and qualified. Part of my job is passive security of buildings, perimeter, evacuation plans, movements of staff, risk analysis etc. I am looking for an ONLINE training that could help me to improve my skills and teach me something new. I found these 2 options that I am considering: ISMI - CSMP (It looks for me the one that fits the most to my needs) Diploma in Security management BTLE 5 I noticed also some master from Leicester (1 year option) and an online training from ISA - Israel but the first one looks too academic and the second one not reliable (my feeling). I am not really interested in university credits, I just need something practice and well done that will help me in my future assignment Anyone can please advise me about these two or suggest me for something else? Thanks a lot

Online training?
You gotta be kidding!.
You need hands on, specialist training and a background from military minimum.

Dear Heimrisks, thanks for your answer. As humanitarian the acceptance on the ground is quite different and there are no para-military operations to do. Security is at usual the first thing to take into considerations in these context but no need to have a military background to plan a distribution of food parcels, with local organisations mostly of the time. Thanks btw for your answer, and if you want to suggest me something, now that I explained better the situation, will be very welcome. Have a nice day

If you look at the requirements for operating in hostile Environments for UN, USAID, NRC, etc

Pretty much all ask for previous in country experience, or previous hostile Environment experience.
Especially for individuals operating with security operations.
Security Management etc.
All my Life I have meet individuals that wish to do, what I have done but no one willing to train, gain the experience. Its Always about cuting corners, and pick fastlines.
Thank God very few of them have HE work experience

You see, there are also someone that wants at least to have a training. As you look like knowing the requirements and the skills needed in these humanitarian Hostile Environment missions, which training you suggest?

If you apply for security management thats the training you need.
Certified from something like ASIS
All I have Heard of require HEAT training Certified Heat- Hostile Environment awareness training.
Its about travel security, risk reports, evacuation plans, how to perform when taken (kidnapped)
Personal first aid, driving, cqb

When applying for a security manager role in hostile zones the recruiter ask for previous experience and training.
Since a taxi driver cant become a security driver by taken a online course. Hands on training.
HEAT is designed for Journalists, press, doctors, engineers, red cross, humanitarian aid etc.

WHO is searching for a Security Manager, is also searching for advance security management skills
