Hi Guys,

Sorry i haven't been on here for a long time and this is one of my first threads but hope to get more involved soon.

I have a friend who is looking at taking on a smallish consultancy contract in the middle east. He is going to set up in country under the umbrella of a parent company based in South Africa. He will be providing an advisory service and an implementation service to set up an operation.

He is enquiring as to the types of business insurances he will require along with other forms, negligence etc.

In the vast wealth of experience we have on this website I would appreciate any information that I can provide to him so he has piece of mind when setting up.

Regards

Phil

Phil,

Inevitably there is not a simple answer here- it very much depends upon what the contracts look like, particularly with regard to the relationship with the 'parent'. Generally you will be looking for a professional indemnity policy and public liability cover as a minimum. You may wish to add an employers' policy to cover any staff emergency issues (or require all consultants to indemnify/carry their own cover). Client and jurisdictional stipulations may also determine cover requirements.

Any half decent broker familiar with the market can provide more detailed advice, happy to provide an intro if required.

Best,
