DSL Angola Ltda was the licensed and registered name for DSL in Angola. Armor Holdings bought DSL in 1997. The Armor Group bit came later when they divided the company to either manguarding personnel or non-lethal weapons manufacture and supply.
In December 1997, the Angolan Govt decided to boot DSL Angola out for non-compliant mercenary type activities. DSL called Force Majeure and removed all DSL expat and OCNs from country. The action was a fit-up involving Angolan Generals and South Africans to take over the DSL contracts - at the time they had close to 2000 guards and 120 expats, 47 blue-chip clients, all major NGO's, Embassies and oil companies as clients. DSL withdrew its personnel on 18 Jan 1998. The Angolan directors and staff remained as DSL Angola Ltda to be run by the aforesaid responsible for ousting them. Grays security played a major part.
