Heads up. There are polos, tees, shirts etc that are on sale on eBay and directly through printers' websites that are logo'd "SIA Approved". Any licenced personnel that are buying these beware. It is illegal for anyone to wear anything that says they are "SIA APPROVED", the SIA do not "Approve" individuals they licence them. It is, however, legal to wear something that says "SIA Approved Contractor" as long as it is referring to the company not the individual. Three people have already been prosecuted.

There are other shirts for sale that are printed "SIA LICENCED" which are perfectly legal to wear (if you have a licence that is).

Further to your post, people could fall foul as the logo is copyrighted so without permission from the SIA you would be in breach of the copyright and liable to prosecution

That's a whole other question :) The purpose of my post was to point out the risk of wearing something that gets someone their licence suspended.
 
I didn't even know that wearing something like this was such a problem. I have many clothes with names and labels, but I have never thought I should research if I can wear this particular piece of clothing. My wardrobe is full of creative clothes and merch from companies and famous people. I would also like to have such a shirt with the SIA logo on it. Soon, I'll receive my order of prom suits from an online store, and from that moment, I'll be more conscious about what I order and wear because it seems like I can have serious problems because of that. I appreciate the information and advice you have shared.
