Special Ops in Rio Slums

Maybe Britain should do that at the olympics, tading tickets for either knives, hoodies, summer rioters or illegal immigrants. Seems better than a lot of the olympic tickets going to corporate clients.

Converted revolver = track side at the hop, step and jump.
Glock = 1500 metres final.
UZI/MAC = 100 metres final.

Do it, get them there, then film 'em, watch 'em and take 'em.
Get the guns and the scum off the street.
Do it once, they'll do it again.

Without a doubt.
All the times Holy Father visit Rio de Janeiro BOPE is an excellent proactive work for the security of His Holiness.
I can not help comment on the work of a high sense of reality of the Brazilian authorities for the safety of such great events taking place on Brazilian soil.
I think other nations should do likewise.
Such as changing the material of suicide bombers who already seems to be on the ground for tickets for the Olympics.
This is a exelent exemple.

I just stumbled late onto this thread. It's a real eye opener.

If the Brazilians are training their spec ops and CP guys - by sending them into their own gheto's regularly, then that's very impressive. You would have to wonder how many team members survive this kind of encounter. But the ones who come out on top - would really know their stuff :) HAHAHAHA !!!

I took a look around the Internet ... just to follow up on this subject. purely for my own education.

SURE ENOUGH ... the team at BOPE has lost several guys this year - during operations where they were trying to interdict drug trafficking and gun running inside Brazil's slums. Not only that - a cameraman who was covering the action was also killed. These kinds of operations represent the most "realistic" training that I can think of. I doubt that countries in the first world would ever consider taking these sorts of risks with training. It might make a good exchange program - but your team might not come back. Very interesting!

It's amazing what the World Cup and the Olympics can get people to do. The announced raid into the flavela with a armored personnel carrier! Speaks volumes. Yes, we all have respect for BOPE and what they do. I found this comment interesting:

"He says that Rio's authorities are making an effort to gain the trust of those living in the slums, who - after decades of abuse - have got used to seeing the police as their enemy".

I hope that once the spotlight if off Brazil they can continue on this path.

Just read that one "guns for tickets" all those empty seats from corporate sponsors in London. We could have had "knives for tickets"!!! or something like this.

what I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall - and see the intel briefings on those Brazilian slums. If the guys in BOPE want to make extra money for their police force ... they should just turn their operation into some sort of reality TV show. :)
HAHAHAHA !!!
