Here's my thoughts from La La Land,
Websites are a marketing tool, necessary, effective and a vital tool for communications.
They tell us nothing, they are skillful tools in the right hands and can influence a nation and a generation.
talk to Sachi and Sachi, or any of the cigarette companies, or brewers.
The quality of the website tells me more about the designer than it does about the company it represents.
Look at major 3 star general brigadier legion of honour Shortt. IBA
Lies wrapped in truth soon become gospel: old wives tales, urban myths and gossip; work on the same principle at a base level.
Look to the people giving the training, are they known and credible, have they got a reputation, a real reputation, not imagined to protect.
A good operator doesn't always make a good trainer.
Look at stars from football and rugby they don't always make the transition into training or management.
So we need a third way to judge the level of training, and that must fall down to testimony, from students, independant assessors, candidates and their success's.
where are they working now, how has the course prepared them for the tasks they wish to undertake.
I would like to be able to see these past students at work and be able to talk to them. A shite firm will soon be outed. As word of mouth is a powerful communicator.
Polish SIA courses, It does worry me. I must say.
I know jack all about them, but it just worries me.
I've worked with good and bad Poles, I've worked with good and bad brits, I can't think of a nationality I haven't worked with.
But if you want to work in the UK, and doing an SIA course means you must.
Well a better than average understanding of English, is pretty important in my opinion. Not just straight sentences, but the nuances, such as humour, sarcasm and insult, are needed in the tool box when dealing with the public.
Just thoughts from a far of land.
I will reflect further and return with a more measured responce.
