Unusual prefixes

Comms experts,

Received a call from a new client yesterday morning,
the number had the prefix 09999 followed by country code, followed by local cell prefix.
Client says he didn't call..... and my phone didn't pick up his caller ID

Any thoughts???

It appears that he/she was using Caller ID Spoofing.

Used to be a website that you could use to send texts from anonymously. I had some fun with that. Sent one with the username O2 to my ex gf saying her phone would self destruct 5 seconds after reading it.

Thanks lads but have looked into it further and it's not a hoax/prank thing.
Have the Telco looking into it, seems there could be a genuine security breach with the number?
